If you need a miracle, try a different book February 8, 2005 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I found this book to be no help whatsoever. The techniques it recommends include diffusing an argument by lying down together like spoons. When a relationship needs help, this is just not an option. This book may be of preventative help when you're still on "spooning terms", but when you're past that stage, you need something else. I highly recommend "How to Save Your Marriage Alone" by Ed Wheat, "Restore Your Marriage" by Erin Thiele, and the resources available at http://www.stopdivorce.org.
Miracle isn't a word I'd use... January 2, 2005 Elliot Kingdon (Oslo, Norway) 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
First let me say I'm British and not an American reader. If you're looking for a miracle to save your relationship, this book isn't it. In fact, if you're relying on a miracle then that probably says more about the state of your relationship than this book will. With platitudes such as 'Look at a persons light, not their lampshade' or 'a tool for creating love beyond words is to frequently touch your sweetheart in a caring, non-sexual manner' and a section on How to never argue again, for me this book was empty, simplistic and of no practical use at all. If you're going through the mill with arguments, separation, work, kids, divorce and shouting you may need some more realistic advice than 'Let loose the poet in you to express your sincere appreciation of your partner.' Read it and cringe.
This is a great communication book. August 9, 1999 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
This book has been of great assistance in helping me communicate with my husband in a non-threatening manner. I recommend it to anyone seeking to understand why their mate responds in a specific way. The ideas presented are uncomplicated and immediatly useful.
Fabulous ideas, practical tools for improving relationships! May 29, 1999 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I wish this book was required reading in every high school across the country. This little book is full of great ideas. Not difficult ideas, but easy-to-use ideas that you can benefit from immediately. If you want to improve your relationships, (with your lover and with everyone) BUY THIS BOOK NOW. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!
Easy-to-use and effective techniques March 25, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book provides many simple tools to utilize when handling problems that arise in your relationship. Lots of ways to de-fuse anger and really listen to what your partner is trying to say and understand why they're saying it. I liked it a lot!
