Pretty dire effort really. Melodramatic descriptions of her mothers and grandmothers marriages. Self-pitying and annoying account of her own marriage break-up. The whole thing reads like some dreadful short-story written for a pappy womens magazine. I only finished it because I was abroad for a long time and had already read all my decent books. Go for some intellectual stimulation and read a cereal packet instead.
 An intriguing well-written personal history of infidelity August 8, 2001
This is a very well-written account of one woman's experience of infidelity. Ann Pearlman's grandfather and father were both unfaithful to their wives. Ann was determined to marry a man who would treat her differently but after many years she too discovered that she'd chosen unwisely. A moving, painful and beautifully controlled book which only occasionally succumbs to bitterness.
