Its always special with Alastair Sawday October 11, 2007 A. Mussen (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I often turn to the Alastair Sawday website for help when looking for a place to stay. But there is nothing better than the guide. The maps give you a clear idea where the B&B's are, and you can then flip through the relevant entries to find one that suits you. And you can be sure that any one of them will be something out of the ordinary and worth the visit. I don't use anything else.
From abroad October 11, 2007 Mrs. B. Dunford (France) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Living in France, and not returning very often to the UK, it is essential to have a book that `will keep us up to date with really good places to stay. We never travel without a copy, and have found so many delightful 'homes abroad'. The only problem is choosing!
Meet people like you . . . . October 10, 2007 Robert Ashton (www.robertashton.co.uk) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a simple philosophy and that is always to stay somewhere that's as good as or better than my own home. The only reliable source of those places in my experience is Alistair Sawday's execellent guide It's also the only B&B guide I've found that virtually guarantees a stimulating conversation with like minded people over breakfast!
fantastic!! October 10, 2007 D. A. Rees (Devon, England.) Sawdays guides have always been of an extremely high standard, and this is no exception. Well laid out, with properties of great character, charm and originality, but with varying budgets to suit all pockets, you know if they appear in this book, standards will be high. In the hit and miss experience of B & Bing in Britain, this book is invaluable!! Get it today.
A treat in store October 10, 2007 Fair Trader (North Yorkshire, UK) It's a pleasure just to flick through the special places to stay and fantasize. It's even better when you've finally chosen and can look forward to being there. Best of all when it comes to pass and you ARE staying in a beautiful Tudor farmhouse with a cosy fire and homemade scones! Alistair Sawday is always the first stop when we're looking for a comfortable and individual B&B, whether in Britain, Ireland or France.
