A Wonderful Cookery Book December 19, 2007 Liam Cahill (Birmingham, UK) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
Upon receiving this book from Amazon I was surprised by the rather unconventional layout of the book. It comes in a fully openable folder with pages that you can wipe down after you've managed to cover them with mango and jerk sauce. It is colourful (as you'd expect from a Caribbean cookbook), easy to read and helpfully introduces you to some of the more foreign ingredients. The book comes with an entertaining, informative and enjoyable DVD, which is no less than you would expect from the bubbly TV chef that used to grace our screens back in the day. I really enjoyed watching the programmes and found myself laughing along with Rustie and the bunch of larger-than-life locals, which is very uncommon for a cooking show. I personally found the recipes themselves imaginative and easy to follow, and despite my general incompetence in the kitchen I managed to pull off some pretty impressive dishes; much to the delight of my girlfriend. Overall, I found this book to be a wonderful addition to the kitchen and fully recommend it to anyone who wants to get some central american dishes under their belt.
