| Customer Reviews:
A great collection of viepoints March 2, 1999 Although this is not the single best book on documentary film, it is arguably the best collection of essays gathered on the subject. A wide range of viewpoints are represented, and the organization is logical and easily understood. This was a text in a documentary production course I took as a graduate student, and now that I will be teaching such a course, I plan to use it as well.
Still relevant for today's documentarist. June 14, 1998 The articles Rosenthal collected are the best in the field. The documentary needs more theoretical input like this to give the new film makers a better understanding of the art of documentary film making.
Uninformed, often silly. February 3, 1997 Rosenthal comes at his subject from the point of view of a hack, and it shows. Depressing.
