Excellent introductionOctober 19, 2003 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book thoroughly lives up to its title: it is an excellent introduction to the market for freelance journalism and how to break into it.
Beware however! If you want to learn how to write then look elsewhere - this book will just provide some handy tips. Additionally, the more up-to-date audience will be disappointed that no mention is made of internet journalism or internet research methods.
All you need in one bookMarch 12, 2002 katiespicer@hotmail.com(Reading, UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This book is an excellent introduction to becoming a freelance writer. It takes you through everything you need to know step by step. There are excercises plus answers throughout the book, which are really useful as you actually get to practice what you are learning and they keep you motivated. It is written in a fresh and lively style and can be read from cover to cover unlike some 'how to' books. Don't write your first article without it!!
Can't recommend enoughOctober 24, 2001 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is such a motivating book. It's particularly suited to someone starting out in journalism, particularly freelance and I would go as far as to say looking to write features. It thoroughly covers the basic all-you-need-to-know points about researching and writing an article through to how you go about selling your work. This book is a recommended text for many journalism courses and I can see why. It's everything you need to get started written in a refreshling upfront and candid way.
