Great way to learn German August 5, 2006 J. M. Tennick (N Yorkshire, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great book for the beginner or for someone like myself, who learnt German but a long time ago. There are stickers to put round the house to remind you of the name of things and lots of spaces to write out and practice the language within the book. It will get you a long way quite quickly.

I'm learning German, this book (or series in fact) is excellent. I would however recommend that you consider this a book suitable to learn from if living in Germany/Austria?Switzerland - not from abroad as it is full of bits and pieces that you need to practise again and again. It's full of pull out cards with easy questions, German menus explained (ie not just the literal translation but actually what it really is) and stickers to stick around the house so you learn the words.
An easy to follow confidence builder. July 17, 2001 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
This innovative book concentrates on getting you talking and reading in the language you have chosen, rather than slogging through points of grammar. Using flash cards, stickers and building sentences the style is such that it holds your attention and you want to do more than 10 minutes a day.The learning methods employed are varied enough to suit most styles and the topics covered are the key ones that you need to survive in your early days. The book is not childish and will suit many learners, I would judge from about age 10 and up. And if all else fails, the stickers around the house are a conversation point! As someone who has always struggled to grasp grammar rules and has therefore struggled with learning foreign languages, this book has been a breakthrough for me. To the author - dakeschön!
