Fantastic November 24, 2008 Lovin romance and chick lit! This is such an emotional read. It really touched my heart and I found myself crying in some parts of the book. When I recieved this book, I didn't really think it would be that good so I left it it for a bit and boy was I surprised at how good it was when I finally did read it. The twists are great, the characters are perfect and I can't think of anything bad to say about it!
I wish there had been a disclaimer. November 23, 2008 Katherine Hansen 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Believe it or not, I bought this book to cheer me up in dealing with the anniversary of the tragic sudden death of the most important person in my life. Marian Keyes' books have always been a treat to myself and I was specifically looking for some escapism. Little did I know . . . I'd like to warn anyone who has experienced a tragic death to prepare yourself. This book re-opened a lot of deep wounds that took me years to work through and I have to say I was angry at being caught off guard. I finally persevered and finished the book but it was painful.
Horrid book September 25, 2008 Claire Smith (UK) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Deeply upsetting, deeply depressing. Absolutely hateful book. I too have only been married to my dream man for a short amount of time, and this book will give me nightmares for a time to come. It's one of the worst things I can think of come true and described in detail for hundreds of pages. Burning is too good for this - this horror.
Marian Keyes is amazing. September 13, 2008 Dr Seuss (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't bother to read the blurb on the back of Marian Keyes' books anymore because I know that I will enjoy it. So I didn't even have a clue what this one was going to be about. Amazing. This story is so cleverly written, and it's true what has been said about laughing out loud and crying. It's also true that is does start a bit slow but that is only because we are meant to be wondering what has happened. The story really touched me and I felt I really got to know (and like) the characters. It's a subject very close to my heart and I felt she handled it very sensitively. My copy is now doing the rounds at work and everyone is saying the same thing: they laughed, they cried, they couldn't put it down.
Funny and sad at the same time September 11, 2008 Mandy (Staffs UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Brilliant book, couldn't put it down, but had to in places to wipe away the tears at the sad parts! Compulsive reading.
