5 out of 5 stars marganne from Shoreham, England   May 20, 2007

It is not often I feel compelled to write a review of a book, but I have to say this is a book that hooks you from the start and you just cannot put it down ! Sam and Jaine are brilliant hero and heroine, they compliment each other so well, the humour they share with each other just hit the right note, and with the added bonus of a crazed killer after Jaine and her friends because of their "List" then you are in for a lovely read. I was sorry when I had finished the book, I was enjoying that much. Certainly a five star book for me!.

I have only just started to read Linda Howard, as I was running out of good books, and I am really glad I did. So far I have read about five and counting, and I have to say that Mr Perfect was brilliant. The hero was gorgeous, rough, ready and completely male, which lets be fair, is how we like em! I loved Janie, and agree without other reviews of Linda Howards books, that she generally writes an independant and fiesty heroine. The inter play between the two was funny and touching, and by the time they ended up in bed I was using another book to fan myself with!
The action was good, and all the characters meshed really well. It rambled along at a good pace, and I for one will be putting it on my keepers shelf. Also good by this author are Shades of Twilight (it actually made me cry, which was impressive) and Dream Man.
I can't recommend this highly enough!

3 out of 5 stars not as good as i thought   May 15, 2006
loves to read
Hoped that this would be as good as linda howards other greats Mckenzies mountain and open season but to be honest was disapointed with the charachters. The book was not one of her best

5 out of 5 stars Sizzling chemistry   July 21, 2005

I loved this book, and have re-read it several times. The chemistry between Janie and Sam is great, they really strike sparks off each other. The one liners between them are brilliant and you can really feel the passion between them. The storyline is trully suspenseful and the killer of the "List" ladies is creepy beyond belief(which I liked). Sam is my kind of hero definitely alpha male but humorous with a reluctant caring streak. Janie is a strong character who is sassy and independent and gives as good as she gets. This is one of my favourite Linda Howard books- definitely a classic.

Linda Howard scores a one, two knock out with this spicy thriller!! *****GOLD

Four ladies work at a company dominated by men, and so every Friday night after work they meet for supper and girl-talk. This particular Friday, men - or rather the lack of Good Men - leads the four into creating a list of their idea man.

Marcia is a forty-something with three failed marriages behind her. She loves men, their company and sex, so is currently living with an out of work Brick. TJ, thirty-something, is married to the childhood sweetheart who is likely having an affair. She wants a child, but he refuses. Beautiful Luna, twenty-something is head over heels in love with a heel, a NFL
quarterback who likes parties and women too much. And razor-shape mind and tongued Jaine, thirty-something, and a veteran of three failed engagements.

So over a few drinks, they come up with a list of all the qualities of the perfect man, like faithfulness, honesty and something that says size DOES matter!! Naturally, later a tipsy Marcie shows another woman at work The List, and suddenly it is on the bulletin board, going through emails, and then the news local and national are picking up it.

And the men around these ladies are not happy campers. One man in particular is very upset.

Janie is furious with Marcie, but has other things in her life to worry about. She just bought a new house, her mother and father are away on a vacation of a lifetime - her mother leaving precious BooBoo kitty and her father his precious Shelby (car for all you non babyboomers). BooBoo kitty is shredding the couch cushions, her sister Shelly is mad because Mum left Jaine the cat, and her brother David is mad at her because Dad left the Ford Cobra with little sister!! To top matters off, she think the next door neighbour is a drunk or a drug dealer, for he drive a POS pontiac with a busted muffler, comes in at all hours and looks dangerous - and he walks around nude in the kitchen drinking juice !! Worse, she just backed over his trashcans!!

Jaine learns Sam is not a drug dealer, but a cop and she has to admit, it did not take her a long time to get the phone number from the neighbour so she could call him to tell him to lower his window shade....

As The List brings them national attention, and a possible book deal, TJ's marriage falls apart, Brick, surprisingly hurt since he does not measure up, leaves Marcie and Luna tells her football hero to take his job and shove it. Only Jaine seems to be having the bright side of romance.

But there is someone who takes The List as a personal insult and intends to see the four pay. Marcie realises this too late, when she opened her front door...
