Great Vampire Book ;-) August 23, 2002 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book was one of the, or THE, best vampire book ever. I couldn't put it down, I read it all in less than a day. The 1. book is "Beneath A Blood Red Moon" (Maggie and Sean's story), 2. "When Darkness Falls" (Jade and Lucien's story), 3. "Deep Midnight" (Jordan and Ragnor's story). You have to read these in order, I did, and they were the best! Not one page was boring (you know, it's sometimes boring when the villain is the main character in a chapter or something, but not in this book). I'm not entirely sure but I think the first two books (BaBRM and WDF) were the best. If you're into vampire stuff you'll love these books, I hope, because I am (I'm a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and I did. Enjoy.
Good book, shame about the editing... September 23, 2000 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well. I forgive a great many things. But not a name change in the middle of the book. While the book is not bad - not the best vampire romance I've read - but it's not bad, the editing and typos spoiled the book for me. The storyline is good, it moves forward, the characters are well written... but I've read a preview of the sequel and it was just as badly edited at this one... The story gets 4 stars, but the editing has let it down, so it's only a 2 star review. Sorry.
A great first vampire romance from Shannon Drake March 24, 2000 KAP (England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have enjoyed all of the books from the pen of Shannon Drake aka Heather Graham aka Heather Graham Pozzessere and this her first vampire romance is just as good. If you like the flavour of the south in New Orleans, hints of voodoo and magic you probably need this book. I can't wait for the sequal with Lucien's story. Please Ms Drake may these be the first of many...
Brilliant,Brilliant book! January 8, 2000 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was great! It had everything you could want from a novel. It had me gripped from the very moment I opened it. This is the first vampire novel I have read and I will definitely read some more. I was unsure when I picked this book up whether I would like it or not but like it I did and I would seriously reccomend it to anyone.
Excellent supernatural romance July 7, 1999 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
New Orleans police officer Sean Canady is stunned by the second decapitation to hit the city in a week. Still, an experienced veteran of the force, Sean keeps his cool as he goes over the crime scene. Earlier in the week someone mutilated a prostitute. Now a pimp is dead. In spite of the brutality of the attacks, very little blood appears near the corpse or for that matter the previous body. Tiny drippings of blood lead to the nearby Magadalena's Boutique. Sean and his partner interview the employees and the owner, Magdalena Montgomery, but no new clue surfaces. That night a fellow officer and an employee of the boutique agree to meet at a jazz club. Separately, friends of Sean and Magdalena persuade them to go too. When Sean and Magdalena meet again, their initial attraction grows. However, Sean has to capture a weird, vicious serial killer that seems to relish sucking the blood of his victims. As he diligently works the case, Magdalena wonders if history will repeat itself with another Canady helping kill a rogue vampire. She also doubts that their love for one another can cross species as he is a mortal and she is a member of the undead. BENEATH A BLOOD RED MOON is an excellent vampire romance that augments the plot with elements from the police procedural sub-genre. The pulsating story line blends extremely well together as the audience enjoys an exciting, entertaining, and enticing novel. The cross-species romance includes two wonderful lead characters that will garner reader empathy. The secondary cast provides a taste of the Big Easy leaving fans of the supernatural romance wanting Shannon Drake to return with more tales of vampires in love. Harriet Klausner
