good for those dressage fans May 10, 2008 S. bennett (uk) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Not what I was looking for anyway. I wanted a step by step guide to what the learner rider has to do when trotting, cantering etc. As with alot of these books it tells you more about what the horse is doing underneath you! I needed tips ie thusting your pelvis forward whilst trotting in time with the horse-when you've mastered the knack, you and the horse should feel comfortable. Hey Ho ! There is a lot of stuff for young children who own there own horse though.
Excellent All-rounder May 10, 2007 Mufflin (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I am just starting to learn to ride and found this book very informative. I like the way it covers lots of different topics right from your first lesson up to more advanced subjects. I also like the way it covered different disciplines and gave you an intro into Dressage, jumping etc. There are so many similar horse books out there for a beginner but i think this one is worth the money as its a good all rounder!
The right book for horses and riders January 12, 2007 F. Pinar Demirkan (Istanbul, Turkey) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
It's really a big guide for horse riders. It includes everything about riding, rider and horses. If you are a new beginner, this is the right book. If you are a show jumper, this again the right book. If you are an advanced instructer, again this is the right book. Dressage, show jumping, troubleshooting, self improvement for a rider, and more are all in this book. It is a very useful book. You shoul dhave it in your library.
Great book lovely photos something for all August 25, 2006 Booklover1980 (Cambs UK) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
As previous reviewers have said, this book has something for all giving details on how to start for the beginner up to teaching and young horse to jump. Would be great for someone such as myself who has ridden all of their lives who is a bit rusty and also for a teenager, child or adult justing getting into the sport. Its nice just to flick through the picitures if you dont feel like reading. Incidentally the pics are all current, unlike some books which are republished but still use pics from the 70's!! Well worth buying. One of my fave horssey books to date.
For Non Horsey People February 11, 2006 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
As a non horsey person, I would have to say that this book is fabulous, so detailed, well photographed and plenty of diagrams.Yes, you've guessed it - I bought this book for a very young relative of mine and she loved it!! So if you know someone that loves horses and just learning to ride - this is the book to buy!!
