5 out of 5 stars Inspirational   June 13, 2008
C. Ali (south yorkshire)
I bought this for my liverpool/footy mad son, he loved it so he lent it to every other liverpool fan he knows, even I ended up reading it.
It is a really good, interesting read. It show's how his commitment from a youngster has influenced his life.
It's written like Steven speaks so in my head he could have been narrating the book.

5 out of 5 stars from a man united fan   April 7, 2008

i finished reading this book and was recommending it to anyone i knew that read books . i am a united fan anything good i have to say and write about liverpool football club would fit on the back of a stamp. i grew up from the mid 70s thru the 80s supporting man utd while my whole family cheered on the success of liverpool and delivered me with loads of stick so i cant stand the club. BUT

i bought this book to read the life and times of one of the best central midfielders in the world. I admired steven gerrard as a great player and of his decision to stay at liverpool (at last someone who plays for the shirt, passion and pride for his team and not about the money/shops)

steven gerrard now has my respect as a person as well as a professional footballer he dosent hold back in this book he says what he feels about players, press, refs and managers, He even gives some liverpool fc staff and players a not very good mention. this is a book that gives you the lot he even tells you his wages and the trouble he had to get them.....
........................................................................
STILL,I WISH HE HAD SIGNED FOR UNITED

if you like football, liverpool, stevie g or just a good autobiography this is the book to buy............

5 out of 5 stars Steven Gerrard   February 12, 2008
Alyn (Merthyr Tydfil)
Both an excellent and interesting read, it goes over all the highs and lows of his career from Istanbul to Portugal. It also gives us an insight of his years as a young kid growing up in Liverpool and how the Hillsbrough disaster affected his family. I do think that he has held back a little, I couldn't help thinking that he missed something out when he was talking about his on/off transfer to Chelsea and I felt that the last chapter was a little rushed but overall very enjoyable.

5 out of 5 stars Stunning As His Performance !   December 6, 2007
A. Lai (Ocean View, NJ, USA <----> Malaysia)

I admit I'm a Liverpool fan, This book is far most one of my best read ever. It comprises of his personal journey from a small lad to an international superstar... it shows too that he is such a low profile person not been overpowered by his fame and fortune. You hardly can see any other as low profile as Stevie G, in my opinion. It also has clear the skies of his near exit from Liverpool... Definately is a good read for all that wanna know about the life of a footballer / soccer player...

4 out of 5 stars My Review Of Steven Gerard's Autobiogrphy By Michael Rowsell   November 20, 2007
Mr. Michael J. Rowsell (England)
My Review Of Steven Gerard's Autobiography By Michael Rowsell

I am not A Liverpool Fan. However, I have always liked Gerard's football talent. I found the book to be very honest, by that I mean, as the reader, I felt Gerard has given an honest and frank assessment of what has happened during his career. Even if, in my opinion, at times he makes himself sound arrogant. I like that because I don't feel as if he is making himself out to be perfect.

I feel that the book gives you a great insight as to how he felt after success and failure. For example, when I read the chapter about the night he lifted the European Cup in Istanbul, I felt as if I was there with him. I was able to feel his joy and his frustration at the contract problems he had with Liverpool which nearly lead to him joining Chelsea. This did upset him. I might be wrong but the book gave me the impression he was genuinely upset by the whole thing.

The only criticism I would have of this book is this. I would have liked to find out more about what he likes to do away from football. In the book he said he enjoys spending time with his family but says nothing about his individual interests.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to any football fan.
