Taking it to the limits and then giving it a good press June 29, 2004 Peter Shield (Languedoc- France) 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
For many years I have dived, canyoned, climbed, caved, ski-ied, white water rafted and bare backed rode white sharks. However despite the short term adrenalin rush their is always that slightly crumbled and creased aftertaste. Something has always been missing in my careless search for the ultimate thrill-but not anymore. A throw away Christmas gag has turned into an obsession- I am now looking to form the Languedocienne extreme ironing cell (English speaking but French, Catalans and Occitans accepted) and join the world brother and sisterhood of extreme ironists. There are many rivers to cross and many shirts to iron, but their ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no valley deep enough to stop this new ironing movement.
Great book for teenage boy! February 29, 2004 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
What do teenage boys read? Very little probably if they're like most! However, they may well read this and enjoy it immensely. There is quite a lot of reading in it and loads of amusing and interesting colour pictures! Great facts and explanations of this unbelievable sport. My boys were tickled pink by the picture of the "judges" of the standard of the ironing, and spent hours perusing the rules and regulations of the sport and the great pictures. A really good buy for an adventurous young fellow who was told to choose a book for the school prizegiving and was unable to find anything of the remotest interest in the local bookshop!!
Fascinating! October 25, 2003 28 out of 29 found this review helpful
This book is amazing. Informative and amazingly interesting, yet also hilarious. Guaranteed to cheer up anyone struggling through the weekend ironing mountain - if you think your ironing is difficult, it's nothing compared to what these guys go through with theirs! Suitable for anyone and everyone, a book full of stunning acheivements and sheer wonder. What drives an extreme ironer to take part in this, we are led to believe, fast growing sport? Would make an excellent Christmas gift for someone tricky to buy for.
