Me, Emilee, being a typical girly girl - even using my little brother's Amazon account - who , up until now, had little knowledge or even interest in cars and Gumball etc. was so intensely focused on this book that i had to finish only in one day!! Not only does Alex's beautifully descriptive writing allow you to picture and feel every moment of the rallies as if you were in that car but his personal story is shocking, inspiring and full of love, he is the man that has the attitude and determination that every one wants to have but is too afraid. The person I would like to meet most is that mysterious character, The Master Pilot, real life James Bond Mr Michael Ross, every girl's dream and a man every guy inspires to be. Once you have picked up 'The Driver' to read, to put it down would be like walking out of the cinema in the middle of a blockbuster movie.

Having met Herr Roy in the real a couple of times, it's nice to not get all crowded-out with celeb hunters and dewy eyed girls!!!
But to know a little of what motivates some to even consider entering into the crazy world of road ralling, it's implications, the strains on relationships, and all the sort of stuff that gets overlooked in regular pub-talk. For that reason alone this book is well worth buying.
