Amazon.co.uk Review This novelization is based on three second-season episodes: Surprise, Innocence and Passion, and includes 8 pages of colour stills. These stories develop the darker side of the vampire Angel's nature. A gypsy curse returned his soul to him so that he would suffer remorse for his evil deeds and he has been helping Buffy in her fight against evil ever since. Over time, the two have fallen in love. But the curse specifies that if he experiences even one moment of true happiness, he will lose his soul once more. This happens when he and Buffy sleep together for the first and only time and he reverts to his demonic nature. His ensuing actions are truly brutal. Buffy is already racked with guilt for sleeping with him and his transformation seems to confirm the depth of her mistake as she realises that her mother, Giles and all of her friends are now in mortal danger. These three stories are very dark and very powerfully told. The novelization follows the TV versions faithfully, filling in the thoughts and feelings of the tormented characters. These stories are about passion and some of its darker consequences and the book, like the original episodes, leaves the reader with plenty to think about. --Liz Sourbut

A Great Book September 5, 2007 N. Rogers (Somerset UK) I love Buffy and Angel I think they nrought some life to the tv. This book is a great novelisation of the episodes. The only thing I was dissapointed on is the fact that there were some continuity problems within the first few pages. It talks about something that doesn't happen until Becoming.

What can be better.Angel & buffy are eXelent.
A must for any Angel fans out there! April 11, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This has to be the best summary book I have ever read. Being a huge Buffy and Angel fan I would definatly recommend this one. The book encompasses my three favourite episodes and includes all the quotes from the episode Passion, that have you glued to the book. All in all I give this a thumbs up. It encouraged me to buy Angel chronicles Book 1 and 2.
Great background for viewers who missed the TV episodes March 10, 2000 I only became interested in Buffy after watching the premiere of 'Angel' in Australia, and have been trying to find out the story. 'The Angel Chronicles' are fine novelizations, in spirit with the style of the show, and satisfied my frantic curiosity to know what happened to Angel. Good value for money.
Excellent if your a fan, descriptions are good. February 27, 2000 If you enjoy watching Buffy and you've read a couple of the books this is the next one you should buy, it took me 3 days to read. It includes Surprise, Innocence and Phases eposodes of season 2. Nancy Holder has definatly wrote this one well.
