 Edexcel GCSE Mathematics higher practice book October 1, 2008

The practice book is an excellent revision tool. However, my copy did not come with the accompanying answer booklet, which was annoying. I sent a couple of emails to Amazon. Amazon after looking into the problem quickly closed the matter with the statement that their supplier had not supplied them with the answer booklets. As a revision book there is no point in doing the work, unless the answers can be checked to ensure that the student is working correctly. After emailing the publisher I received the answer booklet free of charge. I hope the publisher, in future, ensures that Amazon have the complete set of books. And that Amazon can support their customers' needs better. The other reviews for this item are actually for the Edexcel GCSE Mathematics higher book, which has the answers printed in the back.

Having left grammar school 35 years ago, and wishing to refresh some maths, I tried this book. It refers to 'higher' mathematics, the term used, I believe, when likening modern maths to the older higher standards, and as such brought back memories of the maths taught in the grammar school classrooms years ago. However, the way it is structured and written is a testiment to modern educational thinking and techniques which are superior to those of years ago, and it takes logical and progressive steps with lots of worked examples and questions to validate learning.
The standard of printing is very high with clear text and diagrams on quality paper throughout. There are also many examples of actual examination questions to try.
Full marks to the authors, this is a fine book that hopefully many people will benefit from both now and in the future.

Everything you need for GCSE in one book. It's up to date, nicely presented, all the theory and practice you need, has an index so you can look things up easily and, best of all for busy mums, there is an answer section at the back so you don't have to spend as much time as your kids when it comes to marking their work!!!
