An incredible series June 11, 2007 Mrs. N. J. Kewley (Douglas Isle of Man) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
All 15 books in this series are fantasic, once you pick them up you won't want to put them down until you have read every last one. I recommended them to my husbands younger sister (she is 12) and a very 'reluctant reader'. Upon reading the first one she was hooked and sped through the rest of the series in a matter of weeks. These books on the whole portray an accurate depiction as what being wiccan is about. There is abviously some artisic license, as what work of fiction would be complete without it. I myself have lived as a practicing witch for 9 years and found the descriptions of the festivals ect to be very accurate.
Awakening /wicca/ Cate Tiernan October 27, 2004 C. Parsons (UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book is about a 17 year old girl called Morgan Rowlands. She has just found out that her parents were witches that were killed and has just found out that she is adopted. She had been dating Cal Blaire for a while but in the previous book (dark magick) Morgan found out that the only reason Cal Blaire had gone out with Morgan is because his mother made him. his mother wanted to take Morgans mothers coven tools as they could help her kill people. Cal Blaire kidnapped Morgan and put her in a secret room in his pool house. He then realized that the 'wiccan' police kind of thing so he set fire to the secret room and fled leaving morgan to die. In this book Morgan has just been rescued by her best friends as they drove her car through the secret room to help her escape. In this book Morgan finds out more about Cal that he and his mother travelling all over the world killing people. She gets to know Hunter , Cals Brother better. She does not like hunter and in the book 3 she stabbed him in the neck. Hunter is a wiccan seeker (like wiccan police) and helps her with Cals going away. He takes lead of Cirrus cals old coven he lead. he believes someone is making dark magic in Widows Vale and suspects David redstone, a clerk at a wiccan store and also one of Morgans friends. In this book Hunter and David have to fight and it ends badly for David. The book ends with Hunter and Morgan kissing and David without any of his magical powers. This review does not say everything though, READ IT it will be worth it! this is just one more amazing book in the fantastic wicca series, made by Cate Tiernan. READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After being rescued from the burning building, Morgan is alive, but unsure of whom she can trust. Morgan loved Cal with all her heart, and truly believed he was her soul mate. But then came the realization that Cal and his mother were practicing dark magick, and only using her for her power. When Morgan comfronted Cal he tried to murder her. Now she is picking up the pieces of her shattered life as she tries to make sense of Cal's horrible betrayal and the fact that from the moment he met her, he was using her. Morgan is very stressed and emotionaly vulnerable. And when she discovers, Pratical Magick, her sanctuary, is in danger of closing. Morgan is horrified. And now her coven, Cirrus, is also changeing. Without Cal to lead it a new leader has to step up. And Morgan is shocked when she learns who it is. Not only that, but she is experiencing romantic feelings for Cal's half brother Hunter, feelings she can't ignore. Together, Morgan and Hunter discover that someone in Widow's Vale has called on the dark forces. Has Cal returned to torment her further? Another amazing follow up from the last book, but yet again the book is left on a cliffhanger.
love hurts! July 1, 2002 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
'Awakening', Book 5 in the Wicca / Sweep series, is just as engaging as the earlier books. Morgan is now seventeen, she's growing more and more into her powers, and without Cal to lead her she finds herself turning to Hunter for guidance and understanding. The dichotomy between Morgan's adolescent awkwardness and great magical powers is extremely appealling -- she's a blood witch, with the ability to read minds, cast spells and see in the dark, but she still worries about being plain, or walking in to parties on her own. She's the archetypal smart, shy girl who finds she has an amazing talent, and that's part of what makes the books so great.
