| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review Although this is first and foremost a storybook Growing Frogs also goes into detail of how to keep frogspawn and hatch your own frogs. The book is split into two sections: the story section which features large, clear text and then the factual and practical part is delivered in smaller text. The story itself is of a young girl who collects some frogspawn and watches as it first turns into tadpoles and then into frogs. The factual text gives more precise details on fertilisation, collecting and keeping frogspawn, the development and care of the tadpoles and how they grow into fully formed frogs. The illustrations also clearly show the development of the tadpoles as they grow legs and become frogs. Collecting frogspawn and watching it develop is a fascinating project that costs absolutely nothing, keeps children occupied and incredibly happy and, if the frogs are then returned to the place where the frogspawn was originally found, no damage is done to the environment. Frogs are an increasingly endangered species and this book highlights how we can all help protect them for future generations. Growing Frogs is a great book that successfully combines fact and fiction in an enjoyable and informative way, making it much more fun than a traditional non-fiction book on the same subject. (Ages 3 to 6) --Miranda Warren

frogs are wonderful December 5, 2006 allesteer 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book explains how slimey frogspawn turns into tadpoles which, quite surprisingly, grow legs and eventually turn into frogs. The facts are brought over by a story of a girl who collects frogspawn and watches with excitement as they change. The book is entertaining, factually educational, and awakes an interest in nature ... and teaches us that frogs are fascinating. Great to read aloud with lovely lively pictures For children aged 4 and above
Great book for Children on growing Frogs May 7, 2001 David M. Renshaw (Yorkshire, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book two weeks ago for my son who is nearly 3 years old. It is a simply to follow book with good illustration and has helped him to understand what the tadpoles we have are doing and what they are going to grow into. Well worth investing in this book, if you are growing frogs for your children
