5 out of 5 stars The best baking cook-book in the WORLD!   July 6, 2008

Like many of my generation (I'm over 50), my mum taught me to cook using the Be-Ro book. I still have a (1950) version, a little tatty, and very well thumbed.

To put things very simply, it is absolutely excellent. The recipes are simple and delicious and traditional. If you make fruit scones, you will never want to buy them from the supermarket again. This also applies to almost everything in the book, but especially to pastry and (most especially) the bread.

I cannot praise this little book enough!

One note for the modern cook to be aware of: The recipes are in imperial measures (pounds and ounces) and the oven temperatures are all gas.
