Filler February 22, 2008 DevJohn01 (Somerset, NJ) In this third installment in the GOSSIP GIRL series S & B have finally reconciled and the island of Manhattan will never be the same! Serena is being courted by a famous musician whose advances quickly become unwelcome and Blair is having trouble getting over her failed romance with Nate. Meanwhile, Dan and Vanessa are heating things up but how often does a romance between friends really work out? And Nate and Jenny have a good thing but will it survive Christmas break as thoughts of Blair and Christmases past come creeping back into Nate's head? I have really enjoyed the first two books in this series but I found this one to be a bit more filler than substance. Hopefully this is just a lead in for better things to come.
it's one hell of an xmas November 23, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
it's xmas in new york and as well as all the fabulous presents there are the dreaded SATs. but don't worry cos this lot certainly don't, instead there off at fancy fund raisers and driving around in rock stars limos, serena even has one follow her to St barths. blair and serena are off to the carribean but there's bad news blairs mom is pregnant! ew! flow the gorgeous rock star writes a song for serean and plays it at serena's amazing new years eve party. blair nearly uses it but finds out somebody, very inappropiately has a crush on her, don't worry though it's not serena.
A tad frustrating... August 6, 2004 Ms. N. F. Jowsey (UK) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I do love the Gossip girl series, even if the it isnt clear which book you should read in what order. I bought this book the other day, believing it to be the second book in the series, only to find out that it is in fact the third, and that there are soon going to be six! Still, that didnt put me off. Just as good as the first book (dont know yet the quality of the second), and the characters are still delightfully bitchy, materialistic, snobby and everything you would expect from spoilt kids in the city. And yet... I can still relate to them. Through all the shiny new clothes and having the type of lifestyle I could only achieve through winning the lottery; Ziesegar gives the characters classic teenager problems and mini-crisis's that I suspect most teenagers can relate to through understanding if not experience. Very entertaining book; Go read.
A really good read April 24, 2003 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
They're back - and this time I think they have become more fully-fledged characters. The author delves more deeply into the issues these rich teenagers face, but in her usual good-humoured style, making fun of their worries too. I like the Audrey Hepburn obsession in particular. She keeps the plots twisting (who will kiss who?) and it's light frothy fun, with just the right undercurrent of angst. I recommend it for fans, although anyone who hasn't read the first two books in the series might get a bit lost, or miss out on some jokes. So read the other two as well!!
