proof of the star system at work August 17, 2008 Penelope Simpson (dorset, england) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Terrible. The sort of stuff you expect from Jordan. And I like Penny Smith. Maybe she feels she is getting to the end of her presenting career and needed to make some dosh. Must have called in a lot of favours from friends to generate all the publicity that made fools like me buy it. Fraud. Come On penny, you had an interesting subject to write about but you blew it completely. Poor Anthea Turner! Will never buy anymore of your stuff and shame on people like Richard and Judy who reviewed it. Unreadable trash.
a harmless 1st attempt August 17, 2008 Mr. A. J. Hawksworth (Sheffield,England) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
so Penny has me in fits on GMTV so i was really looking forward to this and to be honest it's not that bad, lets face it Emily Bronte never had anything to worry about Penny really should have kept the setting inside the breakfast tv station, instead of moving it out of there. And like others noted, the villian didn't get their comeuppance and the ending happened pretty damn quick. not bad tho still think ya brill Penny..but as my school report said, too many times..'must try harder'
Penny!! August 8, 2008 G. Andrew 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
An ok read, kept expecting it to get going and reveal a plot of some kind. But the real disappointment was the ending.... well... I thought my edition was missing a few pages! When I realised that was it, the book was thrown across the room! Great 'Penny' fan so am disappointed!
A bit of a let down really...... August 3, 2008 Bookmadmum 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was looking forward to a lighthearted amusing summer read, the publicity that was generated and even the front cover did hold a certain amount of promise. To put it bluntly this book was a total let down...... in some parts it drones on and on with the incoherant ramblings of its main character Kate. All the characters are unbelievable, the jokes unamusing and prehaps the worse thing of all is the ending which is abrupt and untidy. If that isnt bad enough Smith has committed the cardinal sin of not giving the villian in the novel her just desserts and that is truly unforgivable!!!
Light read August 1, 2008 Marge (Surrey) 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
The jokes are a little tedious but Katie's character has overtones of the author - and most of us welcome her humour in the context of GMTV. Which leads us to wonder how many of the other characters have elements of real people - both Keera and Mike seem to have more than a few recognisable traits. Penny Smith is multi-talented and has produced a very readable and enjoyable light read.
