Disapointing February 6, 2008 Mr. Nicholas Fulker 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book had a good title but was weak on the inside - it could have been fun, cute, more informative &/or exciting but was not, I & my 2 year old son thought the same. It was amarican ('diapers' & 'Mom')in case English was required.
brilliant! December 3, 2007 S.Rehman 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my son while I was pregnant with our second baby. Hhe was only 22 months old himself when his little sister arrived but was well prepared for it! She is now 4 months old and I have not had to deal with much jealousy at all and I really do credit this book for it! my son is the kind of boy that graps concepts very well from books and likes to associate himself with characters in his books so this was a wonderful book for him as its written in the first person (little boy's perspective). Its also great as it showed my son that despite the new baby coming he still very much holds his own special place in the family. This book, combined with having his little sister await him in hospital with his favourite chocolate in her hand when he came to visit her for the first time, set them up for a (largely) rivalry free relationship.
Did the trick September 5, 2007 Saffron (Buckinghamshire, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my son to be presented to him on the birth of our second child. Despite the "americanisms" it did exactly what we hoped it would - explained that at forst the new baby will not be able to play, will need lots of help, and will cry quite a lot. The book also takes pains to remind him that he is still our special person, and that having a sibling will eventually become fun. Although this book is aimed firmly at pre-schoolers, my son was 6 when his sister arrived, and it still helped him assimilate the idea of no longer being the sole child in the house. It also gave us the opportunity to continue our passtime of reading to him (and therefore making him feel special) whilst getting the point across. very much recommended!
useful tool to prevent tantrums! August 29, 2007 ceilidhdog (scotland) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
i got this for my 2year old as a gift from baby. he likes the book and enjoys the pictures. however i find it a little disapointing that it is shown a baby being fed by a bottle, perhaps a picture that was done in a way that it wasn't clear if it was bottle or breast would have been better??? still a good buy to keep your first born happy!
A great help January 4, 2006 Mrs. S. J. Suddick 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I came across this book in a pregnancy magazine when I was expecting my 2nd child and bought it. My son loved the pictures and it was a great way to explain what would happen when his little brother was born. Although I do wish it had shown the baby being breast fed! My 1st son didn't have any problems with jealousy and I'm sure I owe some of that to this book!
