2 out of 5 stars American wording   September 4, 2008
D. Cheeseman (Devon, England)
Have just bought this book as a gift for my friend's little girl as there is a new baby brother in the house. If I had seen this book in the shop I wouldn't have bought it as it is very American. Words like 'Mommy and diapers' and an assumption that all kids eat is pizza!

I'm sure children like the book and enjoy the pictures but I would feel the need to change at least one word on every page whilst reading the story to them. I'm thinking of returning the book as I'm concerned my friend will think I've bought something that isn't appropriate.

4 out of 5 stars Big Sister   June 11, 2008
B. Gibson (Solihull, UK)
Like a previous reviewer I have been surprised at how much my 17 month old enjoys this book. We have now had it for 3 weeks and at the moment it is her favourite book. She too makes the appropriate "crying" noises. To be honest I was surprised at how well she took to it as I thought it may be a bit old for her but she loves it and is already talking to the "baby" in Mommy's tummy (due in ten weeks.) As mentioned it would be good if the baby was seen to be breastfed as well.

4 out of 5 stars A brilliant buy   March 1, 2008
Mrs. R. Murray (UK)
My daughter (who was 19 months when my baby was born) wasn't that interested in this book until she actually became a big sister. It's now her favourite book and we have to read it almost every night. It's a brilliant way of talking about what new babies do. Although there are some Americanisms we just change these as we are reading. I'm going to buy this and the brother version for my friends who are pregnant!

4 out of 5 stars Great book for a toddler who's about to become a big sister   February 12, 2008
D. Malcolm (Kendal, UK)
I brought this book for my daughter who has just turned 2 and she loves it.
It looks at many aspects of being a big sister and has lovely colourful pictures and really positive language.
The only thing that could have made it better for me, is to have show a baby being breastfed as this is what babies spend a lot of time doing. However on the whole the book is great and suitable for any little girl who is about to become a big sister.
Th last page is lovely "mummy loves me, Daddy loves me, I am special to them. I'm the only me in the whole world!
