5 out of 5 stars Our baby loves this book   November 13, 2008
Shain (Leeds, UK)
This was the first book we bought for our baby and he has been interested in it since he was quite young (after ignoring it the first couple of times he saw it).

It's a small book so he can hold it (and I can slip it into my handbag and have it with us when he next wants it). It only has a few pages, so I do understand some other reviewers' comments about value for money. However, for our son it has proven to be excellent value for money as it's one of his "comfort objects" that will make him feel better if he's unhappy, distract him if he's irritable and generally entertain him.

Although there aren't many pages, several of the pictures are quite detailed, so we have lots of "conversations" about what the baby is doing, what the mummy is doing, what people are wearing, etc. I have actually bought a spare one in case we lose it (and if he doesn't need it, it'll be a good thing to keep as something to embarrass him with in front of his first girlfriend...).

The most popular pages with our son are the photos of other babies, but he also seems fascinated by the cartoon crying baby - very odd!

We bought this as a set of 4: babies, dogs, cats and birds, but this is by far the best.

5 out of 5 stars My baby loves it!   September 8, 2007

Each time my baby reads this she is mesmerised. She loves following along with the words and then investigating the pictures. It is great to have a mix of drawings, photos and art to spark all areas of her mind. She totally understands HOW a book works because this one has been simple, short and entertaining enough to read together on many occasions.

My boy hates this book & so do I. The pictures are lifeless.

This is the first book my daughter got into at about 6 months. She loved the idea of turning the pages (right size for her) and the book is long enough for her attention span. She loves the pictures, and has a new favourit every few weeks.
She is now nine months, and this is still the book she will reach for.
Wonderful.

1 out of 5 stars Totally Disappointing   December 31, 2005

Unfortunately I purchased this poor excuse of a book after having read and been taken in by the other glowing reports. Babies love looking at other babies this much is true - this book is too short, too small (palm sized) with not enough "baby faces". It has done nothing for any of the numerous babies I have tried it out on - there must be better out there...
