I found this book by accident looking for animal stories earlier this year. How wonderful, a real twist on the nativity story, imagination at its best. Animals watch the arrival of the new baby, then tell their story about the part they played. The donkey carrying Mary, the lamb at the side of the manger, each had a special part to play. The use of animals as the main characters in no way either detracts from or diminishes the importance of the story.
This book is a must for young children being introduced to the nativity, with its delightful illustrations and easy text. Even older children will enjoy the ease and flow of each chapter as the story unfolds. A Christmas story that will be read year after year.
