5 out of 5 stars wonderful   July 7, 2008

This books is an excellent guide to the technique of mindfulness. In essence mindfulness is so simple and yet extremely effective. It's something that we all forget to do, and this book serves as a powerful reminder for it. The authors are free of academic jargon and are clearly passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the benefits of mindfulness, and the book is clearly not just for people who might be suffering from depression. I recommend it highly along with Eckhart Tolle's the Power of Now, and Steve Taylor's Making Time, which uses mindfulness as a way of living in the present and becoming free of the future and the past.

Having suffered depression for 2 years following a particular incident and very bad year this book allowed me to connect my emotional and physical systoms. Explaining in plain english what to do to stop the self turmoil. I am not saying this offers a cure but it certainly offers everyday coping mechanisims that are easy to introduce and stop decline. Highly recommended.

This book holds advice that will help anyone. The wisdom of the practice of Mindfulness Meditation is the key. I highly recommend it along with 'Sacred Space' by Elizabeth Bailey.

Half way through and thoroughly enjoying the book and results.

I remember watching a nature program about big cats hunting mountain goats in some far outreach of Northern Asia. In one shot they showed a mountain goat resting on an outledge surveying the valley. In it's state it made me think we humans have lost something about being in touch with nature and what it is to be human. The power to be, not being distracted by the seemingly never ending stream of attempted assaults on our awareness that come at us throughout the day. Adverts, TV, radio, peer pressure, addiction - noticing rather than reacting to!

This book shows you the way to a more natural state of being imho. One of being calm and aware and leaves you with a feeling of general clarity!

5 out of 5 stars A wonderfully written, user-friendly guide to this effective therapy   December 8, 2007

Having taught the methods these authors recommend to groups and individuals over the past three years I know that they work. But it's not always easy and one can find oneself caught up all sorts of dead-ends. The authors are well aware of that and take pains to make their points with clarity and a deep sensitivity to the issues involved. The result is a work that is highly effective and very approachable. I can't recommend it too highly.
