Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely indispensible.   May 9, 2000
Wisden, of course, is cricket's "yellow Bible". But its sheer bulk makes it inconvenient to lug around the grounds, and in any case it is primarily a journal of record rather than a form guide. Which is where Bill Frindall's Playfair Annual, concentrating as it does on the present, comes in.

The decision to abandon comment in the body of the book, even on the NatWest Trophy, and instead to ask a prominent figure (this year it's Justin Langer) to pen a foreword has been a success, as readers have been treated to some very thought-provoking and trenchant opinions. Frindall's editorial is also interesting.

The tried and tested layout is little changed, although new registrations no longer have a section to themselves at the end of each county's register, which is a bit of a shame. The book is just as easy to flick through as ever it was, and will be by my side all season.
