Old hat -- same old same old July 7, 1999 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Nothing new here. This is the same old stuff that has been written for 30 years about BJ. Absolutely nothing for the experienced card-counter. For the novice, some helpful advice, but the neophyte would be better served reading a book dedicated to cardcounting.
Incredible book! May 19, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is just a great book by a great writer. If you have any interest in blackjack or casino gambling, buy it.
Good Background and Advice May 3, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What I really like about this book is the comparison he makes with the various counting systems. The author shows that playing a level one or easy counting system is just about as good as playing a more complicated system. Then he shows you the system he recommends. The book is excellent in its depictions of what it's like to play in real casinos. Frank Scoblete, the author, is a very talented writer and his stories about the casino wars are very funny and witty.
A Book That Teaches and Entertains April 30, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I learned so much from this book that I don't know where to begin. I had never played correct basic strategy so I started with that. Scoblete makes it easy to learn as he doesn't give ten or twenty different strategies but one for single deck and one for multiple deck. His way of teaching card counting is easy to understand and even easier to apply. He covers many of the fine points of the game in this book that go a long way to giving you great insights. I really enjoyed his stories about his trips and experiences in Las Vegas with his wife, "the beautiful AP" as well. If you ask me out of five stars this book is a SEVEN!
Superb Analysis of the game April 27, 1999 Best Blackjack absolutely lives up to its title. I learned more from this book than I ever did from the blackjack books I've read previously. Scoblete is a masterful writer who is able to make the topic of blackjack come alive. His stories and his advice are first rate. Get this book if you want to learn what you need to know to win.
