Amazon.co.uk Review Are you ready to take on the new robots of Descent world such as Swatters, Tubbs and Thiefbots? Which weapons are best suited for each subterranean mission you undertake? And what is the best way to deactivate the force fields that might block your path as you fly through the canyons and tunnels of the world below? There is no disputing that Descent 3 is a complex game. You not only have to look to the left, right, front and back, but also above and below. Descent 3: Official Strategy by Mark H. Walker and Mike Emberson gives you a simple crash course on basic piloting skills, introduces you to the game's bad guys, and offers a detailed run-down on how to complete each mission successfully without ending up in pilot heaven. Ten additional weapons come with Descent 3, including a Napalm Cannon, a torch-thrower that is capable of roasting mechanical menaces to a crisp. You will need it. There are plenty of new enemies about, including many of the Descent series' previous villainous robots. This guide prepares you for them all. The guide's multiplayer tactics and tips are particularly good. If you want to be a smart player of Descent 3, it recommends that you avoid rushing into a big fight armed with Blue Lasers and Concussion Missiles. Always try to avoid getting frustrated at yourself and never fly straight and level. The best way to play Descent 3 well is with a joystick. It's best not to waste your time with a keyboard, and with this book at your fingertips it's a safe bet you will improve your chances of navigating around the likes of SH-1100 Thresher, the menacing orange robot with a hammerhead and large claws. For the fast aerial combat of Descent 3, keep a copy of this guide in your cockpit at all times. --Justin Hunt

Does what it says it does, nothing more though... February 7, 2000 acefox009@hotmail.com (England) The mission walkthroughs are handy if you're stuck(Level 6, the priests columns, Hmmph), but its just a basic info book with very little eye-candy. The robot section tells you less than the briefings in the actual game, and some of the one-liners or "At-a-glance" phrases are a bit pathetic. But if you're stuck you're stuck. And if you dont have a net connection then this is your only choice. Hold on, if you dont have a net connection then what are you doing here? Grrr :P
Not much here and a lot of empty space. June 30, 1999 Like most Bradygame books, this one is pretty devoid of useful info. The enemy section, with about 20 words for each, is a total joke. There's better online stuff than this book. For instance, Gamespot Gameguide's Descent 3 online strategy guide has this one beat by a long shot.
