One of two required DIM MAK books October 6, 2007 M. A. Ramos (Florida USA) Mr. Montaigue's companion volume to the Dim Mak encyclopedia is a welcome addition to his outstanding series of Dim Mak titles. This book covers point strikes to the extraordinary meridians (covered in TCM theory), as well as additional information concerning the medical effects of point strikes to the human body. This book along with its companion "The Encyclopedia of Dim Mak" are excellent reference material for those wishing to learn more about both the damage and healing which this art can be used for
Curious but speculative April 5, 2007 A Reader (Glasgow) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Erle may grab our interest with his wild dim-mak stories but there is very little in his books to suggest that these techniques work. Has he killed people? Why would he even want to? The whole premise of dim-mak is a bit dodgy. Dillman's pressure point books offer better tips than this.
What a rip-off! March 14, 2007 Madge (Chelmsford) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
The first volume was REALLY expensive but chunky. This one is also REALLY expensive but 1/10th the size. Come on chaps! Its taking the michael! What troubled me the most was what sort of man teaches people death point striking! For what purpose? To go out and kill people? Taiji is meant to be peaceful and friendly not psycho training school!
At last a decent book on vital points for martial arts October 22, 2003 Richard Gillies (Redhill, Surrey United Kingdom) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
(...)This book is a well written and researched, and is a must for a serious study on the bodies vital points, it's only downfall is that you really do need to buy volume 1 to get the most from it (...) These two encyclapedias togetherwith Tsubo: Vital Points of Oriental Therapy by Katsusuke Serizawa make a wonderful collection that give the martial artist a good understanding of how each point reacts to varying pressures, from healing and preserving life to causing immense pain and taking life. One final thing that Earle points out throughout the book is how soft styles of striking are the most effective, from past experience I would agree with this point and to truley get the most from this book you should be training in these styles. If you train in hard styles you may find this book is of limited use.
Encyclopedia of Dim Mak the extra meridians May 31, 2002 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Where the first book had 418 pages this volume has 127. Having said that this contains some of the more devastating strikes, ones which do more damage than just pain. Even more information on the internal qi system as if the reams and reams of information in the first volume wasn't enough, and when you read this you'll realise it wasn't. This book only gets 4 stars from me because of the unnecessarily graphic drawings showing the location of governer vessel 1 and conceptor vessel 1.
