Annoying March 17, 2008 Wan Shu Yan 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Despite Amazon details indicating that all answers are within it only gives answers to odd number questions which is both unprofessional and annoying!
Not for home study February 4, 2008 Disappointed (London) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is only of use to teachers as it is questions only - there are no answers. According to Longman, the answers are only available to teachers on its website.
Okay, but too many questions. November 25, 2007 A. Banks (NW England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is very annoying as it only has half the answers in the back, so you cant cheak half the questions. I also found that it tends not to explain the harder type of questions. ie. the ones you would need help with. But it is well structered and has endless questions to practice on, so many that you only end up doing a small fraction of them. I use it at school, but would think it was good for home use as well as at school.
Thorough IGCSE course August 13, 2007 A. Farmer (London, UK) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
We home educate so study IGCSEs because there is no coursework. The Longman Edexcel IGCSE Maths books 1 and 2 give a complete and thorough course. The books break down into units and chapters that, over a standard two academic-year period, roughly means one covers a unit per half term or a chapter a week. Each topic is explained well and there are plenty of differentiated exercises set for intermediate or higher. The combined total pages for books 1 and 2, total 900 - which appears daunting when compared with other textbooks of maybe 250 pages. However, one does not need to do every exercise and one can tailor each topic to suit ones ability and understanding. Because we are lucky enough to be home-educating, this book is perfect for us - it is a complete course, it contains answers and it offers depth and flexibility.
