DEAD LOVELY July 25, 2008 Mrs. M. Mcghie (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really enjoyed this book, I couldn`t put it down, it was easy to read with short chapters & well structured characters. The writer is really clever in the way you get caught in the emotions of Krissie, Chas, Sarah & Kyle. The beginning starts as you believe another romance but then the plot twists & turns into a journey of deception, intrigue & self dicovery. Great, if this is the author`s debut novel can`t wait for her other books.
WRITING WITH GUTS (AND A DOLLOP OF GORE!) July 13, 2008 K. Campbell (Glasgow) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Funny and grotesque in turns, this is a page-turning ride through childhood friendship, unexpected motherhood, lust, blood and guts - by way of sharply sketched social workers, bobble-hatted hillwalkers and a feisty anti-heroine juggling post natal depression, awakening urges...and murderous intent. But, strangely - you can't help liking her, even as she sinks deeper in the mire. Looking forward to the next one.
Complex, comedic and fast-paced July 9, 2008 SuzieB (London) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This novel is refreshing in the sense that it doesn't fit any particular genre - it's part contemporary fiction and part thriller with some darkly comedic moments sprinkled in. I don't want to give anything away about the plot as I'd hate to spoil the read, so suffice to say that you will not be able to put it down - I read it in one sitting!
Disturbing July 3, 2008 Aldee (UK) Black comedy indeed, the book deals with some very difficult issues in such a light manner the reader is left perturbed. A very strong debut novel.
Loved it! June 27, 2008 Ms. F. M. Casci (Italy) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was also able to get hold of the Australian copy and couldn't put it down. I passed it round to various other people, most of whom reported reading it from cover to cover in one go.... A real gem of a read.
