 Disappointing, Dull, and a Waste of Money! September 7, 2008

Yup, sorry folks, this book is a wasted opportunity - and a waste of money. The words are ok if you overlook factual inaccuracy and bad spelling, but the photos are mostly dark, lacklustre and uninspiring - the pictures on back and front covers bear little relation to what's inside. Didn't the sun ever shine when the photos were being taken? The few interesting pictures are very small, and not commented on at all! The book gives the impression of being a good idea that got lost along the way, ending in something carelessly put together. Dull, dull, dull. You'd get more inspiration looking inside upmarket Cornish holiday cottages on the internet. A very disappointing book.

With this stunning selection of photographs, who needs a house by the sea? It's mouthwatering. So much so that you can practically smell the seawood and taste the salt in the air. The interiors are captured beautifully and are truly inspiring. Highly recommended for the photography alone.

Someone bought me this book as a gift and I'm really glad they did as it ended up being far more useful than I had first thought it would be. The illustrations were beautifully layed out and full of the sort of small details that make a difference to a room. The advice offered was practical but stylish, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Recommended
