Obviously written by a man. July 2, 2008 Susan (Edinburgh ,Scotland) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A terrible book with stunning one-liners such as 'there's a house inside my mummy but the door is rather tight!' Explain that to a curious 3 year old. Presumably published because he's the man behind Purple Ronnie. If you really need it I would suggest borrowing from the library to save the world from more printed copies.
A great book for siblings/siblings to be June 16, 2008 Bookworm (London, UK) I received this book as a gift for my 18 month old as I'm expecting again. I already have a 6 and 5 year old who are pretty clued up on pregnancy and childbirth. I've never purchased a 'mummy's having a baby' type book in the past, just didn't feel the need but this book is a big hit for all 3 of my children and I'd highly recommend it. My 6 year old reads it to his sisters and can relate to the mother's symptoms too. I love the way it touches on several aspects of pregnancy, especially the mummy being sick and tired alot as that's me all over, as well as the nice things like the little kicks - had to LOL about the very tight door - hilarious! Got to put that in there for the adult reader!
Fantastic! September 28, 2007 L. Paterson (Aberdeenshire) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is written by the Purple Ronnie writer and the verses are fab. My son aged 18 months at the time just adored it and even now a year on he still loves it, even though the boy in the story had a brother and we had a girl! A really lovely way of explaining things to youngsters.
fantastic to prepare your 1st cherub August 29, 2007 ceilidhdog (scotland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
i found this book very useful to explain why mummy was getting bigger. My son is 2 and he liked the pictures and the verse. there is just the right amount on text on each page so they don't get fed up before turning the next page. Highly recommended!!
Wonderful introduction to the new arrival June 29, 2007 MustangMum (Essex, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I picked this book up on the off chance whilst expecting my second child, my son loved it from the first reading and could relate to a lot of things inside, the illustrations of Mum, Dad & son in the bed on the first page, Mum & son in the bath, playing with all the toys, seeing the new baby on the scan (or hospital TV as it's described in the book) and even Mummy being sick... Everyone who has seen this book has been instantly enamoured with it, my cousin who works in a nursery rushed straight out to buy copies for there and for an expectant friend. We kept reading even after number 2 arrived. Our copy is currently with a friend whose son is not a particular bookworm but loves this book almost as much as his new sister.
