Petes view July 21, 2008 Mrs. J. C. Engelsen This is a great story and i absolutly love all the characters. zoey is great. it made me weep, smile and above all feel proud to live. the title before i die is helpful and gives a full account of what the book is about:2-do lists! only 1 thing left: WHERES THE FILM???????????
Unforgettable. July 16, 2008 Caitie I recently borrowed this book from a friend, and read it all in one go. To be perfectly honest, a book has never made me as emotional as this one did. I laughed at Tessa's wittiness, was happy for her in her new-found love, smiled with her at her brother, then could barely read the final chapters through the tears welling up in my eyes and streaming down my face. I could not recommend this highly enough. Be warned - you will need a box of tissues. Also, set aside time to read it - you will not want to put it down once you have started. If you havent already read it, get it, read it. Now.
Uplifting, wonderful - unforgettable July 11, 2008 M. Block (UK) Wonderfully written, you will not forget this book. I read this book in record time, and I thought it would be sad, but it isn't really, just makes you think. Buy this book you won't regret it.
Sensitive, well-written, thought-provoking, and definitely brave. July 9, 2008 A. Brown (Midlands, England) I remember in the (quite distant) past what it was like to be a teenager, and whilst the author could have dwelled on the self-indulgent aspects of the teenage years more, this would probably have detracted from the novel. The writing in this novel was succinct but descriptive, emotive but intellectual, disturbing but inspirational. I defy anyone, no matter what they think of the semantics, to feel anything but appreciative of life after finishing this book. Teenage life in the UK has never been more class-geography-economics defined but this book would open discussion wherever, whenever. Congratulations to the author, you could not have done more!
Food for thought June 22, 2008 C. L. Davidson (Bristol, UK) Although it took me a while to get into the book (I think the fact I picked it up in the kids section put me off) I was soon gripped and finished it quickly. As I got to know the characters I was more and more drawn into the story of Tessa and those around her. This is a very moving story with a considered view into what it must be like to face death, particularly at a young age. I did shed a tear or two but was generally left feeling uplifted having lost a close relative earlier this year. Definately worth a read and I look forward to reading more by this author.
