3 out of 5 stars Good but now old   September 15, 2007

At the time i got this book (before the expansion) i did indeed find it very useful. I already had a grasp of the game basics so used to book to fill in the gaps really.

I personally think it is good just for the maps of every region and a full list of every spell/ability for each class and what level you get then - and followed by a brief description and even sometimes what they are really good for. The maps are good too, so you know where places are without having to first uncover them by physically going there in game.

I must note that since the expansion this book is in need of a upgrade, the PvP has changed from what the book says, new races, new professions, all missing. If they bring out a third addition of this book i will definiately get it!

1 out of 5 stars not very good, bad layout and ordering   July 7, 2007

I agree with the other reviewers that say this is not a very good guide.
It is very difficult to find the information that you want.
There is no index, the contents page is very poor and the overall layout is not very good. If your are new to the game then the first day sections are ok and the maps of each area are useful but lack certain details that mean you cannot always use them to find your way round. Also a whole region (thousand needles) is left out.
Some basic information appears to be left out, profession training, levels required for the next advancement and how to find the actual trainers which is quite important in the game.
On the whole you will find sites such a thottbot and allakhazam more useful.
I would say dont buy this and look online for the information you need.

3 out of 5 stars Waste of money   October 31, 2006

Well, as another reviewer has said, this guide is just an updated version of the first World of Warcraft Official Strategy Guide, however the title "Master Guide" tricks people and makes them buy it. Other than that, MMORPG's are subject to change and therefore the guides will get outdated after a while, however considering Blizzard will not change WoW and will only focus on development of Burning Crusade, it is very likely that this guide stays updated for a long while.
World of Warcraft Master Guide is a good piece of information and is recommended to any player who have just started playing WoW.

4 out of 5 stars Hmmmmm   October 26, 2006

I have alot of characters and too much time, but this seems to be the most relevant of the books to date. Otherwise I would say hold off for BC. Everything is going to go out of date very fast. I bought the dungeon companion, which is brilliant, bu doesn't feature Naxx *sigh*.

Never mind eh?

Get this then wait for BC books, or preorder the BC guide.

4 out of 5 stars For new players and old alike   October 23, 2006

I have been playing WoW for the past 15 months and I love everything about it. However there are times when i need a helping hand to locate certain places, find out what is the best weapon for my level and so on.

This is where the guide comes in - great layout, easy to find what you are looking for. Also with all the new updates it is a great buy.

However I would of given it 5 stars but there is a layout error on one of the pages where the image overlaps the text (this is not a crital peice of information so I won't be to harsh)

So should you buy it if you have the original - Yes
Should I buy it if I have not got the orignal and have been playing a far few months - Yes
