Consistent and in keeping with the excellent Cambridge Handbook series April 23, 2007 BS.Dos. (England) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book is packed with interesting, easy to follow and simple (yet effective) grammar based classroom activities. All the major grammar points (tenses, conditionals, modals, articles etc) are included with each containing a number of different exercises covering a range of different learning abilities. Most exercises contain illustrations of some description meaning you can knock out good quality activities quickly and at short notice. The Cambridge Handbook series is consistently good in terms of being accessible, easy to use and affordable. This Grammar Practice Activities book is no exception and should be included on any serious EFL teachers bookshelf.
Fun Grammar February 7, 2004 41 out of 43 found this review helpful
Use this book to bring a bit fun into dry grammar lessons. At first this book does not look promising, but the contents are brilliant. There are many ideas how to teach grammar items in a less dry manner. There is a photocopiable section and good indices. The indices help you find the right activity: by level, by name or by grammar item. If you ever wondered how you could teach grammar items in a more interesting way – this is the book to get inspiration.
The best Cambridge Uni. press book I've read March 1, 2002 82 out of 82 found this review helpful
Although it doesn't have the makeover of Rinvolucri's More Grammar Games et al this is the best Tefl book I've come across, and the one I miss most in the language school I am teaching in now. Like most of the Cambridge press there's an introduction, which is worth reading, and then the invaluable games with which to suddenly create interest in the otherwise lifeless grammar point. If you're struggling to find something to ignite the imaginations of your students, or have avoided the present perfect, despairing of ever getting the rule across, or need something for conditionals (as in the sentence here), then buy Ur's book.
