Ms. L. M. Romaine
the idea of the book is brilliant, but I really struggled to keep up with it. I do not like talking to myself in the mirror and just feel an idiot. I know he says to work through that, but I just wasn't able to.

It had great ideas some of which I have taken on board, but not all.

I'm sure it will work for some people, but it didn't entirely work for me.

Yes - I thought of the hypnotic shows McKenna did on TV in the 1990s, nad thought maybe he was cashing in on his name. Not so.

First and foremost, McKenna is a psychologist, and he obviously has a very thorough understanding of practical psychology and knows how to help people develop. Further, he's done his own research and is a free-thinker. This book is a result of this great combination, and it works.

Don't be fooled into thinking you won't benefit from this sort of book unless you're unwell or unhappy. It's an all-purpose guide to improving yourself.

Some of the excercises, particularly the subliminal CD are hard to accept, but the best way is to just follow them and accept them will work - you have nothing to lose. Another drawback is perhaps the expectation that you need to set aside 60-80 mins for the CD and a chapter each day for 7 consecutive days. If you can't, do it when you can. I did it when possible, and it was effective.

The practical examples and anecdotes make the material easier to understand and make them more meaningful. The excercises are worthwhile, and are to be done, not just read about. It is genuinely a practical programme with clear objectives and a structured, useful approach. It's easily read, but not lightweight, in that there's no 'filler' material. It's all worthwhile.

I love the little quotes and facts from the people McKenna has studied. They mean a lot, and he hasn't selected them by mistake.

Human character is a fascinating subject few of us appreciate. This failure to grasp it leves many of us failing to fulfil our potential in many directions. I'm now doing things I couldn't have done years ago, partly because of help from this book. I think differently, and approach problems and challenges differently. I would suggest to anyone that taking it on board and giving it a serious try is going to be worthwhile.

Mr McKenna, I feel I owe you a drink. Thanks for your help.

I was so convinced after reading the "I can make you thin" book(having gone from a complete cynic to full convert) that I wanted to immediately find all the other stuff Paul Mckenna had written and produced. I have to say the results are fantastic. apply yourself to the exercises and keep an open mind. It's very straight forward and cheerful in it's style and doesn't go for the american shmaltzy(?) style which would have put me off straight away. And it's not for business types exclusively either, I'm a musician with quite a large debt which I'm now convinced won't be there all that long. I've been diagnosed in the past with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety, Clinical Depression and various other mental health issues but nothing anyone has said to me has helped me, personally, as much as this book. I'm not saying it's a cure for these things but it makes you approach your life differently and it certainly worked for me.It basically teaches you to unlearn your natural responses if they are negative and make them into something very positive.Of course you can't change your life in 7 days but you can certainly alter the course and in a few years time I believe I will look back at the week I've spent reading this book and think it was a turning point. I agree with the other reviewer about the C.D (once you get past the cheesy-ish voiceover) it really does work! I think he's a genius, but I also think most of us have the potential to be geniuses having read this book! I really was a complete sceptic and am now convinced of the benefits of neuro-linguistic programming/suggestion/hypnosis, whatever you want to call it I just know it works. Thanks Paul, you've really changed my life!Dom

Yet another 'self help' book I thought when I first saw the title. Having witnessed Mckenna's stage show, I was convinced in his powers of hypnosis. The first family member to hear it after me was Henry, my 11 year old son who complained of an ear-ache, he listened to the CD and his ear-ache had disappeared by the end! I have taken to starting my day listening to the CD and I have followed the suggestions in the book. I believe this to be an excellent way to connect to my Higher Power every morning . I can report that by listening daily and working the suggestions - life is great today. So if you buy this book - remember to listen repeatedly and practice tenaciously and I suspect you too will be able to report a profound improvement in your life. My son has earned a scholarship and won "school colours" since listening to the CD. Positive Brainwashing perhaps!
