Person centred/client centred therapy February 17, 2007 V. A. Jab-bar (UK) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This book is user friendly and is extremley informative. This book clearly explaines the concepts of cient focused therapy and an excellrnt tool for use in training as well as your own personal development. This book is a must for the novice.
Not an excellent read August 25, 2004 Mr. O. Keenan 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
For years people have referenced the work of Carl Rogers, and rightly so, he was (and still is) an inspiration in the world of counselling.Unfortunately, he was not the greatest author and his book, is at best boring. It contains very little therapy log, very little practical tips and at times feels like notihng more than pages upon pages of words! The absence of therapy logs made this book virtually useless for me in my basic counselling training and of extremely limited use (save for referencing) in my post-basic training. If you are entering the field of specific client centred counselling (or rogerian therapy) this book is a must have. If you are entering eclectic counselling, or other forms of counselling or psychotherapy your money may be better spent elsewhere.
