My first award for this title would have been five stars, especially since it concerns an area of the Peninsular War that has, until recently, been generally overlooked. On second reading however, I lowered it to four stars. The contents covers a wide variety of the conflict, although it could have done with more on the French and Spanish units employed fighting the Guerrillas. (A future title perhaps?) It contains many interesting points, some which explain that many Guerrilla leaders had to flee to France after the war and many became bandits, while others became officers and commanders in regular army units. The style of the book and artwork is excellent and now includes a contents page. The only real negative points came from the Guerrillas being described as carying knives for honour rather than to kill with, while the text itself hints that many saw being a guerrilla an easier and more profitable way of living than working the land. In short, a title enjoyable to read and well worth owning.
