The Star Witch February 11, 2007 Clare (England) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
The final in the Sisters of the Sun trilogy and the story of Isadora, the eldest of the Fyne witches. Isadora is held captive by Emperor Sebastion and becomes the Emperess's Liane's own witch, Lucan is Captain of the warriors of Bacwyr and when he discovers Isadora it is she and only she that he wants. Emperor Sebastion orders Isadora to be with Lucan and she must do this to save Liane's babies and also Lucan. But, Isadora has only loved one man, Willym and he lost his love because of the Fyne sisters curse that any man they love will die by the age of 30. This was a brilliant conclusion to the trilogy and IMO the best of the trilogy, this story was far more complex than the other 2 stories and has you gripped right through until the end. Liane was an interesting character and would have been nice to have seen what would have come of her at the end of the book but, all in all a fantastically brilliant trilogy!
Good but could have been better June 4, 2006 J. Kirk (S W Scotland) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
After reading Sun Witch and Moon Witch, both of which I enjoyed I was really looking forward to this one but found it not quite as enjoyable. Isadora is still grieving for her dead husband and has vowed to never love again. Now the Emperor's prisoner she is made to act as concubine to one of his guests in order to gain his alliance. What I found disappointing about this book was how easily Isadora seemed to give in to Lucan Hern who had demanded she come to his bed. The older sister was supposedly the cool, controlled one but one touch and she's anything but! Apart from that one big niggle it was an enjoyable read and of course, the ending of the trilogy, we find out whether or not the sisters can lift the curse that has been killing the men they love!
