Amazon.co.uk Review In Once Upon a Time, renowned children's illustrator Nick Sharratt has devised an interactive, irreverent take on the traditional fairy tale. Children will enjoy creating their own imaginative versions of the story by slotting the different tabs into the colourful pages. Choose what happens to the beautiful princess when she encounters a magic fairy/duck/toilet who grants her three wishes. Her choices range from a modest dress/computer/pencil case to marrying a prince/pop star/frog. The possible combinations mean that the story can be as conventional or as silly as you like--it's never the same story twice! Ages 4 upwards. --Alison Drury

Great for boys tooNovember 9, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The format of this book is so clever - on each page you get a choice of 6 items to include in the story, ranging from the sensible to the down right silly! Although the book may seem primarily aimed at girls, my 4 year old son has loved it since he first received it for his third birthday. There is plenty to appeal to boys; my son particularly likes to pick a magic toilet to meet the princess, and to make her pet an octopus! The illustrations are very pleasing and the story simple but appealing. I would definitely recommend this book to all children from 2 upwards. Incidentally, now my son is learning to read it makes an excellent first reader too!

My little girl aged 2 loves this book. I would recommend it if your child doesn't really like sitting listening to stories and prefers to be more involved. It would also make a great present for similar age groups.
