An extraordinary, incisive insight April 7, 2008 M. Souter (England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
5.0 out of 5 stars An extraordinary, incisive insight, 6 April 2008 By M. Souter (England) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME) I think Milly from Manchester must have an axe to grind; maybe she is the 'other half' of the Gucci family. But I simply cannot believe she thought the writing was poor. A publisher of the standing of John Blake doesn't hire people who cannot write! Ignore what she said here; if you like intrigue and double dealing among the rich and famous, make sure you read this book. The Daily Mail review rated it highly; I rather think their view is rather more objective than that submitted by our Mancunian friend.
A must read. April 6, 2008 NBF (Spain) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a book that should be made compulsory reading to all those girls who think that all they need do to find happiness is to latch on to a rich man. This book is a real story written about a rather self obsessed woman, who thankfully for her, seems to have the skin of a rhinoceros. I found it difficult to warm to her at first and wondered whether I would want to finish her story, but thanks to the very sympathetic but honest account of this woman and the excellent writing skills of Jenny Gucci's ghost writer, Mary Harboe, I was persuaded to continue. I was well rewarded for my perseverance as this turned out to be a real page turner, and in the end I found myself warming to the woman and respecting her tenacity in the face so many obstacles. For a writer to be able to make such an unsympathetic character loveable takes some skill, and I look forward to reading more from this gifted writer.
Don't waste your money April 1, 2008 milly (Manchester,UK.) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book has to be one of the worst ever written, the story is extremely weak and so badly put together it is a joke!! I am no literary expert yet i found it truly appalling. As well as being so badly written the amount of mistakes are amazing. I haven't posted a comment before but this was just such a ridiculous book i wanted to let people know so as not to waste their money.
An honest account of the ups and downs of being a Gucci wife March 31, 2008 S. Larkin (Spain & England) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I thought the author gave an honest and insightful account of her time as part of the Gucci family. She made me laugh at the good times and cry at the bad, and they were very bad. I found the way she dealt with such adversity really amazing and without even a hint of bitterness. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down, there were some wonderful photos.. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in the dynamics of such a famous family as well as being inspired by such a strong women - a real fighter!
