Amazon.co.uk Review Though it doesn't look like a huge upgrade over the last X-Men fighting game, X-Men: Mutant Academy 2 delivers not only graphically enhanced melees, but also six new playable heroes in addition to the previous 10--among them Rogue, Night Crawler, and Havok, plus two secret characters. The game seems to put more emphasis on aerial attacks, which can only help enliven the fights. If you liked the original Academy, you'll find that this year's class has improved over their summer holiday. --Mark Brooks

X-Men: Mutant Academy 2 December 4, 2004 Dave Kraven (Burbage, UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After the very disappointing X-Men: Mutant Academy, with its strangely difficult gameplay and a terribly shallow lifespan, I thought there was no hope for the Mighty X-Men......until its sequel was released a year later with more characters (which includes Forge, Nightcrawler, Havok, Rogue and 4 secret characters!!!), more mutant moves (focusing mostly on aerial combat) and more good-looking arenas to brawl your favourite X-Men in. The visuals are stupendously dazzling, filled with breath-taking special-FX, colourful costumes and intriguing backgrounds while the music, if sometimes irritating, is quite respectable and the voice-overs from the 90's cartoon series also lend their voices for the characters in the game. The gameplay's been tweaked to perfection, with easily-performed specials, combos and powers, while the game's difficulty is better realised than the original and the lifespan's enjoyably viewed with a lengthy Arcade (depending on what difficulty you've got it on), Versus, Academy Training and Survival Modes. Overall, Activision's done the world proud with this visually impressive and audaciously superior sequel that'll give the Spider-Man games a run for its money.
Not that good, save your money April 1, 2004 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this game based on the strength of the reviews of others and because i'm an X-Men nut. However i found this game hard to get to grips with and for some strange reason i can't save the game on my PS2 as it does not recognise the memory card. Therefore i'm a bit disappointed.

Following a working formula! October 20, 2001 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Anyone who liked the first installment of x-men: mutant academy, will undoubtedly like this game as well. Whilst the formula of the game is not vastly different, the game is enhanced by new characters, levels and the academy mode is also more understandable. The moves special moves are also easier to do, which enhances game play significantly. The new charcters add variety to the game, whilst the characters from the first game remain to please veterans of the x-men phenomenen. If you liked x:men murtant academy, buy this!
X-Men : Mutant Academy 2 October 2, 2001 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
i love this game its cool and you can see some sketches of their costumes in Cerebro. Its a pretty quick paced game so not for the faint hearted, if you like Tekken you'll love this!!! it hs great animations when you get a character through, and the voice artists from the cartoon do the charcters in the game too!.
