Amazon.co.uk Review
Immerse yourself once again in the world of Star Trek with Star Trek Bridge Commander from Activision. While some of the Star Trek titles have really only appealed to a select few--i.e., die-hard Star Trek fans--this title brings a different slant on the world of tactical combat simulations.

Based around a first-person view, you are either the first officer, Captain or Admiral aboard a Galaxy-class ship called the Dauntless. But just because it is first-person doesn't mean that you will be gun's-a-blazing and running from deck to deck like Star Trek Voyager; as the title suggests you will have your bum firmly planted in the chair as you command others, in your spaceship's moment of need.

Based across 25 in-depth levels, you are slowly thrown into the melee, learning the systems--with the help of Jean Luc Picard--as you ferry him to another spaceport. Boredom or a quick completion are unlikely. The game also boasts a quick-battle arena where you can set a number of parameters and fight up to 16 other computer or human controlled craft across a LAN or the Internet.

If you've ever fancied taking control of the Enterprise, but up until now were afraid of all the tactical RTS-style games such as Star Trek Armada 2, this is a perfect opportunity to earn your wings.--Jason Denwood

4 out of 5 stars If you are a trek fan, unbeatable!   September 5, 2008
Mr. A. Fountain (UK)
I have brought a couple of copies of this game down the years, and I can only say that if you are a fan of star trek, and you have a powerful pc, you must own a copy of this game.

You are able to to take command of a federation starship, or even other species vessels if you've been able to access modifications and developments, and you can either play the single player game, which aside from being a bit rigid is an interesting and challenging piece of work.

Or, if you wish you take the fight to space in the simulation mode, where you create a tactical simulation. I won't go into detail for fear of spoiling something for someone, but suffice it to say if your pc is good enough, and you have used the correct website, theres nothing to stop a Federation Armada of 25 attacking a Borg cube. There are other features of the modifications which include the ability to "undo your seatbelt" and walk around your bridge, as well as to seperate the ship if you wish.

This is a very solid game which when combined with the extra adaptations, makes it one of the best Star Trek's. Well worth a play - but only if you are a fan!

Overall an excellent game.

4 out of 5 stars Game or Movie   October 29, 2007

This game I must first point out is very addictive. You can be playing for hours on end and not due to the fact that the missions take ages (but its worth it). The battle simulations that you can run can turn out so differently because of the way you set it up.You can choose a good ship and count on the weapons or you can try and count on skill and get a slightly weaker but more manuverable ship. The actual missions can get frustrating because it is more like a movie. You are told where to go and what to do rather than being able to decide for yourself. Being in the chair is not that fun either. I would reccommend playing as much as possible in tactical mode otherwise your just telling people what to do and watching to see what happens.

Many points of this game could of been expanded upon but what you are able to do, is amazing! Its starts nice and easy but as the game progresses it becomes much harder and some points can be quite annoying. Once you complete the game theres still a quick battle game where you can fight a number of ships and be different ships.

This game is really amazing. Not many games keep me interested anymore butthis is certainly one of them. Even if you finish playing the main storythere is still online play and nice little skirmishes.
Id definatelyrecommend this game, especially to trekkies as it gives us everything wevewanted in a star trek game. I just wish it had done well enough to warrenta sequal

5 out of 5 stars WOW!!! WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!!   March 28, 2004

quite simply this is one of the best trekkie games you can buy the graphics are never before seen in a star trek game they are very impressive just like the game.
you take control of a galaxy class star ship and a soverign class star ship, you control virtually everything on your ship such as what state of alert your ship has to be on according to your judgement of the situation you are in whether it be red yellow or green alert, hell you can even take control of the ship itself with the keyboard.
the only grievence i have with the game is you have no control over the save function tha game saves automatically so if you balls up on one of the missions then you may have to go a long way back and start all over again but this is just a minor problem and shouldnt effect gameplay at all.
you must own this game if your a trekkie fan and if you arnt a trekkie fan, BECOME one so you can appreciate the sheer brilliance that activision have done with bridge commander well worth its five stars.
