Amazon.co.uk Review A tense, varied and precise tactical shooter, Hidden & Dangerous 2 plants you in the midst of World War II, sending you behind enemy lines and giving you some tricky challenges to overcome. Happily, it gives you some significant tools: there's the squad of soldiers you must hand pick, for instance, taking into account qualities such as stealth, shooting and lock picking. Then there's the arsenal of weaponry, ranging from quiet and effective daggers through to a loud and brash bazooka. And on top of that there are factors such as your compass, the odd disguise and items such as wirecutters. It's a lot to wrap your head round at first, although a solid training level helps you negotiate the learning curve. Once you're into the game, things become very tense, very involving and very good fun. You command a team of soldiers, and it's credit to the developers that their AI is of a standard to genuinely make you feel in charge. You also have a certain level of freedom in how you take on the varied, detailed missions you're presented with, often leaving you needing to decide whether to take out the enemy or attempt to crawl right past them. Hidden & Dangerous 2 is, ultimately, a genuinely challenging game with a long lifespan. It has the odd niggle here and there, but these are far outweighed by the superb blend of tactics, action and stealth that the game presents. It may take a little work to get into, but make the effort and you'll find this to be one of the best-value games you'll buy. It's compelling entertainment. --Simon Brew

Strategically, tactically and combatatively robust January 15, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a great game. The first person action is excellent; it is the little things such as selection of weapons, speed of reload and behaviour of weapons - all very realistic both in timing and action. Strategically you can plan your routes, approaches to hotspots and stealth techniques well; it is as much a thinking soldiers game as it is a shoot 'em up; use the wrong strategy and your tactics will not go to plan and you will be extremely combatative. Scenery is excellent, particularly wetaher and environmental effects although the detail on trees and shrubs still leaves (no pun) a lot to be desired. The campaigns are interesting, challenging and carefully thought through. Team play is very difficult to master, and patience is required if you are to make the most of this capability - I say RTFM to anyone who has difficulty with this, and take your time - leaders have to plan, so do this and hey presto you can have some awesome raids. I would like to see: better graphics for gunnery, improved strike capabilty of the knife in stealth mode, bits 'come off', and improved team planning interface. When a soldier hears gunfire he does not eventually go back to what he was doing, until he knows the gunfire is either friendly or indeed neutralised. That's how it was in Iraq anyway, and how it should be in this game. I have not yet played this online, but I can only imagine it is formidable - enjoy.
Great game solo or multiplayer January 5, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've enjoyed this game so much. Multiplayer is good stuff and less complicated that controling squads, but there are some very able players out there that can make or break your game! There are a few bugs when joining MP games with objectives, but I called support and they directed me to their website to download a patch which has improved the amount of servers i can access... Come on and in and look for "marcus" and I'll share any tips with you - WARNING very addictive. get ready for some late nights!
Playdough versus Real Time December 26, 2004 1 out of 11 found this review helpful
For an action FPS it is unbelievably difficult to control your fireteam. You are playing in control of 4 players with playdough mode and the AI's are playing in realtime. I just don't get this game!
A DAM GOOD GAME! November 17, 2004 Joe (United Kingdom) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this game as my mate said is was a dam good WWII game. All i have to say about that is MAN WHAT A TURE FRIEND, he was 100% correct. The graphics arnt the best but not the worst, as it can be a little sharp, and me being me (VERY FUSSY) hate sharp graphics i love em nice and smooth. This how ever does not affect the game play infact the gameplay is most probably the best ive ever played. The game itself is Huge i mean Massive, some of the levels can be reletivly easy but then once you get in to the swing of thinking "Yeah im gonna walk this whole game" then you best think again, as some of the levels can be very tricky and that is one of the key things i always look for, "Why does everyone always want an easy game??. If your not that kein on WWII games then i would deffo do some research before buying this game, but if your like me and love those kind of games the get it bought, in my eyes this game sites right slap bang next to Medal of Honour with a bucket of pride.
