Doesn't do what it claims it does! August 10, 2008 S. EVANS (Cornwall U.K.) I bought this over a Microsoft 360 pad for PC as I liked the look of it and the reviews were pretty good. Firstly the usb cord is about 5 feet long and on an average PC thats not enough. I had to use a USB hub (or you could use an extension cable) but thats not the point this should have at least double the length. The shape of the pad is larger than a 360 pad, and is quite comfortable. The interchangable joystick feature is a good idea I liked it as some games seem to suit a certain style. The material the pad is made from is a bit sandpapery I don't like it. Also the weight of the pad is too light. Once you install the pad I found the pad to be very responsive, better than the 360 pad in fact. But this is let down by the lack of the stated rumble feature in any game I own (eg Crysis, Bioshock, GRID) The XMODE which is supposed to turn it into a 360 style pad does NOT WORK. I emailed Saitek and apparantly the Games For Windows protocol is not compatible with the pad anymore even though Saitek advertise it as being so. They advised me to use the button mapping software included with the pad. This software is good to be fair as you can use the pad on any game or even as a mouse in windows and mouse controlled games but does not make the rumble work. The FPS button is ok, but not all games use the same keys that it maps so you may need to make adjustments. The precision button is also helpful in FPS games. If Saitek fix the rumble, lengthen the cord and get the XMODE working this would be a good pad. Too late though I bought a 360 pad!
Very solid build, and comfortable. March 14, 2008 Philippa Quinn (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This pad feels really solid. It's a bit larger then the Playstation pad, so probably best for people with larger hands. It has got the ability to flip the position of the left D Pad and the Left mini stick, so you can match the layout of the Xbox or the PS2/3 pads. However, the pad is for PC only, and doesn't work with consoles. Maybe a driver upgrade can change this in future as it has a USB connector that would work with PS2/3. In summary, it's a comfy , rock solid pad that performs as you expect. I'm very happy with it.
Great pad - works in all my games October 11, 2007 Tricky (UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a superb pad with an absolute first - the ability to rotate the position of the left analogue stick and d-pad, so you can have it Playstation or XBox style depending on your preference. The shape is superbly comfortable and the rumble effects really strong. I've no idea what Crimson Liar was talking about when he's saying that the pad doesn't work with games. Yes, the X Mode doesn't seem to make it work like an XInput pad, but that doesn't stop it working in those games featuring the Games For Windows logo. With the additional power provided by the supplied programming software you can even get the pad to work in games that don't support game controllers - I've had great fun using it in C&C 3 recently, allowing me to sit back in my comfy chair and play the game without having to hunch over my keyboard. Top work Saitek!
Nice but Fatally flawed gamepad September 23, 2007 Mr. Keith J. Alger (Rugby, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Saitek raised the bar for PC gamepads when they released the Cyborg Rumble Gamepad. Unfortunatly after raising the bar they seem to have tripped up and landed in a big muddy puddle. This gamepad beats the MS XBox360 controller on all fronts; its a better shape, the left hand D-Pad an stick switch around, its more precise, sticks have a longer throw, forces are better defined. Problem though, its "x-mode" that should allow it to emulate the MS XBox360 controller doesnt work, games wont recognise this gamepad, and when they do the buttons map incorrectly. Nice gamepad, or it will be if they get the drivers fixed.
