Scary and Violent. All the sound problems have now been fixed. This is a truly terrifying game and not for kids at all.

I was surprised to find such a gruesome game had been made in conjunction with a name like Warner Brothers - it is, after all, a very dark game with a lot of gratuitous violence.
Despite three reviews complaining about the sound in this game I found nothing in it which warranted such abuse. In the very first section (during the tutorial part) there are a few weird noises which seemed out of place, but thereafter it resolved and although I had the sound turned right up I was unable to distinguish any further problems.
The game play itself will not lend itself to anyone used to the usual fight style of button mashing; you are taught during the tutorial that you have to time your attack and defence - i.e. holding down block will not defend you, you need to block as the opponent attempts to hit you. Likewise you cannot just hit an opponent repeatedly - you need to time the punches. This is possibly why some people have disliked the control system; but once you get used to it, it makes the game ever so much better as it requires more of your attention and thus makes the game more involving.
I found the plotline to be good also; I especially liked the crime scenes which require a little imagination and also some intelligence to interpret. Each section of the game is also very different to the rest - whether you are in a creepy tenement building, an old doll factory, a black tar-filled office or out in the woods in a cabin. The tasks are pretty different too - some are simply search and destroy, others areas require a little more puzzle solving, and you make good use of your equipment following UV fluorescent pipes and blood trails.
The ambience itself is pretty creepy; mannequins popping into existence in the tenement building was creepy, the explosive-filled dolls wandering the rooms in the factory were also pretty creepy when they start crawling under things to get to you; the freakiest bit is definitely in the cabin though... but I'll not spoil the surprise. I actually squeaked out loud in fright at one point when I ran around a corner straight into what I'd been trying to run away from!
The game has its humour too; guys in medieval armour running about a museum, odd news broadcasts and the ability to use toilet seats as none-too-shabby weapons.
SUMMARY
Positive: Great game, good plot, lengthy play time, engaging combat, darkly humorous.
Negative: Some IQ points may be required, not for the faint of heart, definitely not for underage players.
In my opinion it's definitely worth what it's up for sale at on the Marketplace.

I bought this game after I kept passing it in the store not really knowing what it was about and not having any preconceptions about it. I spent 10 mins playing it before turning it off - nothing but fighting, fighting with weapons and more fighting!! Don't get me wrong, I like a good fight on the computer but this is nothing but gratuitous violence through and through... personally, I hated it and wouldn't try it again.

Condemned: Criminal Origins was a surprisingly scary launch game on X-Box 360 back in 2005.It mixed melee combat with CSI tools in the search for a serial killer. The game lost the plot towards the end, relying heavily on combat. But overall it was an original and tense experience.
Its sequel sadly picks up where the last concluded, throwing up an overwhelming number of enemies and strange locations.
The plot sees Ethan Thomas as a hobo, getting into bar fights and having hallucinogenic visions. Before long, he's called back into work, as Serial Killer X is back, and there is a link between them both.
For those that haven't played the original, the plot will make almost no sense. For those that have, it quickly becomes a confusing, overblown mess. It only serves as an excuse why Ethan is exploring a doll factory overrun with possessed toys; or a house of horrors complete with corseted, top hat wearing zombies.
As the locations become more random, the scares get fewer. The original worked so well because many of the locations had a recognisable feel (like a subway or an abandoned house). The sequel favours fantasy over urban squalor and loses much of what made it special in the first place.
The CSI investigations return, and are much more involving. Sometimes they do feel pointless, and used to drag out the game (like being asked questions about what just happened).
Levels remain very linear, but there are additional objectives and optional side quests which make extra use of tools like the gas spectrometer. Almost every level has a different task to complete, and is much more fun than the firsts `find every dead bird' approach.
The medal awarded from each level also unlocks an extra, like increased ammo or health. It's a good idea, and increases longevity.
An area Condemned 2 questionably improves is in the combat. The system is bloated with combos and special kills. A bit too much has been crammed in, and sometimes the annoying QTE's are activated at random.
The violence itself is brutal, made worse by the first person viewpoint and taser sidearm. Actual gun play still feels shallow, but bullets are in short supply.
Overall it feels like Condemned; the movement is still clunky and you can't jump or climb until an icon appears. That won't be enough on PS3, even with the new Fight Club mode and online play.
Considering Blu Ray's capacity, both games should have been included in this package.
Neither game is more than a few hours long, so as a standalone release, it just isnt good enough. Worth a rental.

This game is ridiculous, theres nothing but beating your opponents to death with various items, next anything you can swing.
Utter rubbish and the loose story is just an add on....... Its Wick.
theres a city in darkness most of the inhabitents have become psychopaths theres some mystery of whats happened to solve pretty basic really.
It uses some elements from Gears of War like the interact when a button appears on screen. The melee has prompts too for special BEATING moves which to be honest are funny.
Maybe I just didnt get the adrenaline rush of beating to death a game opponent. It just seemed a little lame. I suppose it could be fun in multiplayer.
This game has got good reviews around an 8 out of 10 on avarege, go figure must be die hard fans that voted for this tripe.
Its actually a really BAD attempt at a horror movie.
Buy it at your lose.
