Yes the story mode is pretty short. But i think the best thing about the ps3 is the online playing. COD4 is incredible online, it is so much fun.
People say it should stay to ww2 style, I disagree. You get bored of the same style of play (weopons and stuff). It was a great change to have it in modern combat.
Hopefully COD5 will continue the success

Call of duty 4 is by far the best game of the year and it rightfully deserves the title!
Its single player game might be short but the varying difficulties, hidden laptops and intel and the missions itself combined make this game a definate success.
Its in its multiplayer mode i find that COD4 makes its money! The lobby is quick and easy to access, the game play runs smoothly with different game modes and weapons to keep even the most avid player like me entertained. The "Ranks" are obtainable and the prestiege mode is basically an imortality button for the game that keeps you playing on and on without getting bored! unlike other games COD4 excells in opening itself up to the multiplayer world. For microphone and head set users the game doesnt slow down, and the mute button is fantastic in only allowing you to hear your freinds and not babble from others.
There is one thing i cant belive and that is the fact people are sellling this game second hand! its fantastic, the graphics are clean, there are no glitches, the online multiplayer is unrivaled and a pleasure to play with numerous freinds in a clan. If you do get the chance BUY this game!

3 words to describe this game: wonderful, fantastic and bloody-awesome. I have had this game since Christmas, I didn't quite complete the single player mode, because I have been playing this online constantly since I got it. This is a game that redefines how addictive and just plain GOOD games can actually be. Its not the easiest at first, but that just adds to the good feelings you get when you play it well. Everyone should own this game!! even girls!!!

Had this game for a number of months now. A near-perfect game to look at and play. Graphics are lovely and the single-player is a good blast. However, where this game really stands out is online. Multiplayer with people from across the world is so much fun. The ranking system (where you gain XP for playing the various modes and you go up in military rank) makes you want to play and play and gradually you unlock better weapons and other usful things.
Overall, a great game and my only negative comment is that if your PS3 isn't online then you may play through the, relatively short (10 hours play), single-player mode once and then probably put this game down as I believe the replay value isn't great.
If you are online this is the best shooter around, if your offline you just better get online!

Im no going to reiterate too much what all the other 4 billion reviews have said as they all sum it up well enough.
My view is that it is an amazing game that really captured the purpose of buying a ps3. Stick your headphones in good ones not cheap ones, and get engrossed in what i believe is an amazing gaming experience!
Right now im addicted to online play where the addictivness rating is through the roof!
Go get this game even if the new one is out soon. youll be a fool not too!
