very disappointing June 5, 2006 thedafftone (Surrey) 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
I wanted to get this game for a while but was very disappointed with it when I finally did. As a big fan of everything equestrian I have quite a few 'horsey' games, including the 2 PC Pippa Funnell games. I knew that a game boy advance game wouldn't be at the same standard as a pc game, but I had expected it to have something in common...I was wrong! Firstly, despite having read the 'manual', I found it very hard to figure out how to navigate the menus and there was no guidance as to how to use or what most of the options do! There is no storyline, and in fact no aim to the game. This means that you aren't tied to completing a particular activity before you can do what you want (which is good); but unfortunatly it makes it harder to work out what you can do. There is an attempt to make the game realistic by including grooming, feeding, mucking out & tacking up but it has been done badly so that it would really be better had they not bothered! The horse doesn't look cleaner if you groom him and you can't see the tack on the horse either. It all seems a bit pointless! As for the riding...it took me quite a while to get the hang of jumping the horse. I spent my first few attempts at a very fast walk as I couldn't work out how to make the horse canter! Even having figured this out I still find that my horse misses jumps quite frequently. That wouldn't be so bad, except that if you don't get it right your horse is counted as having had a fall and will be injured /ill the next day. You can then call out the vet who will charge you lots of credits to 'treat' your horse and tell you not to ride for the next half dozen turns! There are options to invest and you can build up your yard to take guests or become a stud farm. I have yet to make any profit on these tho and will probably run out of credits before I figure it out! I will continue to try tho... I could forgive the lack of gameplay if the riding bits were better. Unfortunatly, there are only 2 types of jump and you are viewing from the side in traditional platform game style. Plus the 9 different tracks are very uninspiring. If you love horses then this game will probably keep you amused for a short while. But don't buy it for gameplay!
Horses and ponies RUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! February 5, 2006 12 out of 22 found this review helpful
Pippa funnel is quite hard. It takes a long time to work out what to do. But at the same time it is very good. Even my Dad had fun playing with it. I also think it is better quality on gameboy micro. My Mum did not know what to do. It is a very good game overall.
Beware this game is exactly the same as Lets Ride February 5, 2006 9 out of 20 found this review helpful
I bought this game for my daughter for christmas, but beware because it is exactly the same as Lets Ride gba so a total rip off if you already have the other game.
Pippa Funnell The Stud Farm Inheritance October 9, 2005 50 out of 54 found this review helpful
My daughter bought this with her pocket money and she loves it! She has found it easy to navigate and use with very little help from me. As a child that isn't particularly interested in computer games, this is the one that has held her interest the longest. If you want lots of action then don't get this game!
